When Creeps the Darkness

There is a river of darkness that runs beneath the soul. A foul flowing of hatred towards oneself and the world.

It's seeded in failure. It's nurtured by doubt.

The fine web one weaves to keep it at bay is easily broken.

A malicious word.

A physical thrashing.

The ambivalence of someone who should care.

Cast out the memories

Pretend it doesn't matter

Eat to excess

Drink to excess

Kill your body with excess rather than face it

For when the darkness creeps in and you can no longer hide it

There is only one thing to do

End it

The misery

Life without light

End it

As the black ribbons of despair cling to you, calling for the blade of a knife, the sleep of a pill,

End it

Cast it out

Seek the light

Dam the fissure in your soul

Rise up from the deep

Dam the world

Live
