What Ever I Say Will Be Wrong

I started writing a blog earlier today. I kept erasing, rewriting, erasing, starting over and finally scrapped the entire 200 words I wrote. Why? Because no matter what I said, someone would take it the wrong way. Without commenting upon all the headlines that pop up on my phone I want to say that we should all remember the following:

  1. Be Kind.

  2. Treat others as you would wish them to treat yourself.

  3. Think before you speak. (Something I still am bad at.)

  4. Respect other people's right to think and speak freely. It may be different from your own but until it becomes dangerous, let them be. If you don't like what someone is saying, walk away. Nobody is forcing you to listen. (At least not yet.)

  5. Acknowledge when you get upset, realize that you have a right to be upset, but find a way to vent that rage that won't hurt others (or yourself.) Channel it into finding the right thing to do.

  6. Look for solutions rather than blame.

I could keep making a list but I think these are the most important. I am quite sure that many religions have lists for behavior that folks are tending to forget right now. Please look to your faith for guidance. Let's all try harder to remember how to get along with each other.

I know this won't help with some situations, but certainly it's a step in the right direction.
