Losing Facebook

Writer's picture: Sonja McGiboneySonja McGiboney

Sometimes I do stupid things. Recently, I let my guard down and, thinking I was helping a relative, ended up getting my Facebook account hacked. I mean, taken over completely.

I never received password reset codes

The "send email" option to reset passwords included the hacker's email address.

No matter what I did, my IP address was linked to the hacker and any attempts to recover the page went to a "fake" recovery page.

Fortunately, all my other accounts, bank, PayPal, etc. are safe. I reset every single darn password immediately.

Losing the page makes me sad, I used it every day, but there wasn't anything life-threatening, and the important things in my life, don't live on a computer.

I had success creating a new page at the library but I used my pen name, Ally Allowinter. (The one I'll use with my adult books). I will reach out to family and friends to reconnect.

Not being able to cruise around Facebook gave me more time to write. I finished the last story in my collection of Love stories. What do you think about the cover?
