If you want to get rich, don't be an author!

Every year I lose money on my books. Every year I write more of them. What is wrong with me?

I'll tell you. While I would love to be the next multi-million dollar, New York Best Seller list author, I don't do it for that. I do it for the smile I see on children's faces when they look at my pictures & the feeling that I've helped a child read.

In case you are curious, here is the scoop on self-published authors.

I have spent $982.29 since Jan 2021 on my new Author Business. This includes set up costs for each book, purchasing author proofs, buying author copies

I have made $126.79 in book sales. I get about $1.50 for each book sold via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers through IngramSpark. Other sales were old stock from my photography business. Now I'm an author...a poor one...

I have another book to get out before Christmas... I shudder to spend even more money since I feel I won't make anything back for several years... but, I'll do it for the kids (the ones who will actually see the books, ha ha ha.)

This really makes my accounting look terrible, doesn't it... I hope Uncle Same understands.

If ya'll want to help this poor starving author, please buy books.
